Selecting And Installing Car Amplifier
The power amplifier is the main element of the sound system. This device receives a low-level signal from a line-out of head device and amplify its voltage and current to the necessary quantities sufficient for the normal work of the loudspeakers. In this article we will tell you about arrangement of amplifiers, their classification and their place in the automobile stereo system.
Classification Of Amplifiers
The amplifiers can be divided symbolically into four main parts: the AC power adapter of amplifier, signal processing unit, the driver and output shaping unit.
The Power Unit is a group of electrical circuits that create and regulate voltage for feed various parts of the amplifier.
The Signal Processing Unit compares the input signal received from a preamplifier of radio-recorder with an output signal of amplifier for the adjustment in order to remove distorshions arising at amplification. In addition, the unit increases the input signal to the level necessary for its subsequent amplification in other parts of the amplifier.
The Driver separates the signal into two heteropolar signals (phase separation) and amplifyes it for onward transmission in output shaping unit.
Finally, the last stage of amplification is output processing unit (it correctly to identify it as output cascade or terminator), which is basically defines amplifier class.

| Car Amplifiers? car amplifiers, the only thing that confuses me in car audio. I need an amp that can push 500 x 2 at four ohms. The only thing is .. some amps are more expensive than others. i know it has alot to do with brand names, however i still get confused. For example, there is this one brand named ultra linear, that does 600 x 2 rms at for ohms that i can get for like 110. A rockford amp of the same quota, would have to be at least 600 dollars. someone help? Ok first off in car audio you get what you pay for.A cheap amp that says 600x2 is more thand likly a 60 watts x2 rather then 600x2.Or like when you see a amp and it says 1000 watts on the top and is only 200 bucks. Its more like 50 watts x2 making it a 100 watt amp.Thats how they get you to buy one.When really if you just look at the specs it will tell you the truth.To put it simpler figure 1 dollar per watt is what it usally means.So a real 500 watt amp is going to be 500 bucks.Now when you buy an amp make sure that you get the true wattage of the amp if you look in the fine print of the specs of an amp you will see this for example.500 watts x 2 at 14.4 volts rather than 12 volts this means that the amp will perform 500 watts X 2 if the ampage stays at 14.4 volts which in a factory car that doesnt have an extra battery and a high out put alternator this will not be producing the proper wattage unless there is a high output alternater in place.The amp will cause the lights... |
| Would There Be Switches On Car Amplifiers To Change The Ohm Setting? Im planning to have four JBL GTO607C components on my car powered by a Sony XM-554ZR amplifier. The JBL components are rated at 2 ohms and the amplifier specs say it can be tuned to 2 or 4 ohms. Can someone clarify if amplifiers will have switches to change the output at 2/4 ohms and will a 2 ohm amplifier to a 2 ohm speaker will drain my car battery ? Some amps are able to switch ohms. I looked up the info on that amp and its stable at 2 ohms. 65w x 4 @ 2ohms. So run the components right into the amp, they will be going in @ 2 ohms. You should be fine just make sure to set the gains and the crossovers on the high pass, becouse you dont want the low frequiences. As fas as the 2ohms pulling more current, Im not sure it will pull more, but i dont think it will. Components dont pull as much as a sub. You should be fine. |
