I was a little hesitant in buying this because I wasn't sure this was the right product and I don't know much about FM car antennas other than what the plug looks like at the end of one. I was installing an aftermarket - universal design car antenna to improve my radio reception, but needed a cable extension. I made a best guess that "Motorola" is the type of plug used by car antennas. Also the PICTURE (at least when I clicked on the product, it may be corrected now) had a picture of the female and the male adapters so I was even more perplexed. I read the reviews here, thank you!, and surmised this was the correct product I needed. For the record, this is a female to female "coupler" for FM car antennas when you are using an antenna extension (which is a male to male wire extension). my dad and i installed a power antenna in a 2000 cavalier. we had to move it to the opposite side of the trunk for it to fit. this adapter was just right for this. it connected the aftermarket antenna to the car's original wire.

Q&A with Antaya Technologies
May 13, 2011 |The EU has now removed the exemption for using lead in the solder for electrical connection soldering for glazing applications (such as for heated rear screens). As such, any new model seeking type approval after 1 January 2013 will be required to use lead-free solder for such applications. This will result in a significant step towards truly lead-free production car architecture. To find out more, Matthew Beecham talked with executives of Antaya Technologies.
Antaya, a relatively small, family business based in the US, has being supplying GM and Ford in the US with the lead-free solder connections for some time without any issues arising from this global-leading product. But there has been reluctance among the European divisions and glazing suppliers to adopt it. One reason cited being that it is more expensive (approximately 1 Euro per application). However, the EU ruling will force the issue into implementation.
