UP man's arrest is an extreme example of battles between citizens and ...
Feb 08, 8710 | John Eccleston of Bay Mills Township, near Sault Ste. Marie, was arrested in March because the township says his
antenna tower violates a zoning ordinance. Eccleston refuses to get a permit for the tower, saying it isn't within the area
covered by the ordinance. He says the township has a grudge against him. / JOHN ECCLESTON photos
A sheriff's deputy pulled into John Eccleston's driveway in rural Bay Mills Township in the Upper Peninsula on a Sunday afternoon.
Eccleston was playing the piano. The tune, he recalled, was "Blow the Man Down."
What happened next blew his mind.
Eccleston was arrested for a zoning violation involving an antenna tower that has been on his property for six years. Township officials claim a permit is required for the antenna, and Eccleston refuses to get one.
A self-admitted rabble-rouser, Eccleston said he thinks his arrest was payback for a lawsuit he had filed three days before. The 45-year-old sued the township March 23, claiming it has mistreated him and his mother for years because they're vocal critics of the government.

Photosynthesis Or Photovoltaics?
Feb 08, 5995 | &Quot; In order to make meaningful comparisons between photosynthesis (which provides stored chemical potential) and photovoltaic technology (which provides instantaneous electrical power), we considered photovoltaic driven water electrolysis to yield hydrogen using existing technology as an example of artificial photosynthesis," explained co-author Thomas Moore, director of the Center for Bioenergy and Photosynthesis at Arizona State
University. "The hydrogen produced by the artificial
system is thermodynamically equivalent to the sugar produced by photosynthesis. The take-home from this point is that the artificial
system out performs the natural one, but on the basis of potential for efficient solar energy conversion as measured by the land area required for a given energy output, both technological and biological processes could in principle offer similar outcomes." Photosynthesis, on the other hand, originated in an environment where it was rapidly selected for, as it

how do I repair the connection between the radio and antenna of my 1995 nissan pathfinder?

I I can receive scratchy sounds, but I do not get anything but a scratchy noise with a music backround
Any ideas of the cause or repair?
Does your Pathfinder have a funny antenna connector? About 1/2" in diameter with two pins protruding? If so, then you have one of the "FM Diversity" vehicles which means the original radio uses two antennas and electronically switches to the antenna with the best signal.
Since an after-market radio doesn't have diversity tuning, it will use only one of the antennas, which will be determined by the adapter you'd have to use to connect it to the standard Motorola-type antenna connector. If reception was fine with the stock radio and bad with the after-market one, it could either be a bad adapter or one of the vehicle's antennas could be bad. The stock radio would not show this symptom because the FM Diversity aspect would keep the tuner switched to the good antenna at all times.
