Feel-good feeling for ferry system as it turns 60

VASHON — David Moseley brought a birthday cake, good news and a wish to the first of a series of ferry community meetings this week.

Washington State Ferries turned 60 on Wednesday. The state bought out Puget Sound Navigation on June 1, 1951. But that wasn't the only thing to celebrate, the ferries director told Vashon Islanders.

Back in November, service was on the chopping block. Since then, the Legislature shifted transportation funds around and avoided making cuts.

There was concern then about how the new 64-car Chetzemoka would perform at Port Townsend-Coupeville, but it "has served that route exceedingly well," he said.

The ferries system has accepted the second 64-car boat, the Salish. It is at Eagle Harbor for final finishes and training, and should join the Chetzemoka in early July. The third boat, the Kennewick, is scheduled to replace the 48-car Rhododendron on the south end of Vashon Island early next year.

Once the Kennewick is complete, Vigor Shipyards (formerly Todd Pacific Shipyards) can move on to building a 144-car ferry. The Legislature provided $122.8 million for it and approved a 25-cent-per-ticket surcharge that will add another $6.6 million a year.

I've just recently bought a car, and overall I'm very happy with it except for the sound system...which just consists of the factory stock tape player. What do I need to buy (deck module, subs, etc..) to have a nice sound system? Volume isn't a huge deal for me, and hopefully I could keep the price under a grand? Thanks people...

I want to know if there are any other majoir chain stores like Best Buy in or around youngstown ohio that i can buy a cd player, speakers, materials, install ect. for my car

I have a 95 plymouth acclaim (hold laughter please:) and want to know who to go to.
Look up "Car Audio" on whitepages.com for Youngstown. It may be a small shop but they may do a good job. Whatever they try to sell you, look up the price on www.crutchfield.com for the exact product to make sure it is at least competitive with retail prices.
