Pioneer Wants AppRadio To Fuel Aftermarket Sales

May 25, 2011 | AppRadio, a double-DIN AM/FM RDS head unit, is scheduled to ship at the end of June at a suggested retail of less than $500. Its capacitive touchscreen can be used to control and display selected apps, including Pandora Radio and a cloud-based navigation service.

The device, which was demonstrated at a press event, here on Wednesday, will be the first car audio head unit of its kind in the aftermarket or from automakers, the company said. It's also the first aftermarket head unit with capacitive, rather than resistive, LCD touchsreen to enable iPhone-like gesture control of apps, Pioneer said. The only hard buttons are power on/off and volume. The unit lacks a CD player.

Pioneer to Ship 'App Radio' in June at Under $500

Pioneer Corp. (TYO:6773) will ship at the end of June the aftermarket’s closest car radio yet to a smartphone in your dash. It’s new “App Radio” for under $500 is the first aftermarket car radio with a phone-like capacitive screen with multi-touch and swipe and it will work with a group of apps whose icons can appear on the screen.

The radio is actually like an iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4 speaker dock for the dash. The opening screen shows a big digital time readout and some icons.

Apps include MotionX-GPS Drive for turn-by-turn directions, Google Maps, Google Local search, INRIX real time and predictive traffic, Pandora,and Rdio (social networking radio service).

There’s no CD player, but you get built in Bluetooth calling, video, a 6.1 inch screen, and capability for a rear view camera and steering wheel controls. There’s also AM/FM radio.

Anyone know what the LOUD feature on a Pioneer car cd player does? And how do I change the clock?

I have a feature on the pioneer of the CD - it's the high and low who do not know these and whats the difference or not who knows how to change the clock on a pioneer car CD players older.
at high volume it basically does nothing, at lower volume it enhances low or bass tones. you should be able to hear the difference between LOUD-LOW & LOUD HI They do what they say increase bass tones & trebel to a point. to change the clock try holding the clock button in for about 5 seconds &se if clock blinks. use up &down buttons to change hr & min. Also if that does'nt work go to pioneer .com car audio put in model # & you can look at operators manual look for whatever section you need! Thanks for shopping with us have a wonderful day.

i have a pioneer car cd player but i dont know does it support all types of formate or not ?

having pioneer cd player ......i don't know which one is mine but does all models support MP3 cd's or do some only support audio CD.
Some only support audio. Depending on what year the CD player was made, it may not support MP3s. Best way to check is to get the model number and check Pioneerʻs web site. You can enter the model number in the search and bring up the specs. That should tell you what is and isnʻt supported by your model.

My deck for instance does not play MP3s but,that because itʻs REALLY old. Itʻs also the best deck Pioneer ever made in my opinion unless you have like $3000 to spend on a deck
