Navigon 20 Plus Europe 23 sat-nav

Most of the higher-end satellite navigation these days have widescreen displays but Navigon's 20 Plus device eschews that for a smaller one in the older 4:3 aspect ratio.

This makes it cheap, as does the fact that it uses an older-style resistive touch-sensitive screen rather than the capacitative types used by most smartphones these days, as well as some sat-navs.

Resistive touch-screens aren't covered by a hard glass coating, so they visibly depress when pushed, and are more susceptible to damage, though this device should be fine as long as you take care with it.

It's small and compact with little extra bulk, and it's only around half an inch thick.

The screen mount is likewise streamlined and well-designed to take up little room, and it comes with a car charger. This uses a standard mini-USB connection so you can charge it using a computer or by plugging in a mains-to-USB adapter (not supplied).

The screen was quite responsive, which was good, although we were left hanging a few times as the sat-nav thought about what to do next after we'd pressed a button.

Jabra Extreme Bluetooth Headset Review

May 31, 2011 | An added advantage of the Jabra Extreme is that it includes a car charger.  Just plug in the charger to the cigarette lighter port in the car , attach the USB to micro USB adaptor, then attach the Extreme headset.  It’s a pretty convenient accessory to use if you’re on the road a lot.  The AC charger on the other hand has a very short 10 inch cord which doesn’t make any sense at all.  Using the AC charger with a standard house outlet will force you to put the headset on the floor.  I, for one, don’t feel comfortable sticking things in my ear after they sat on the floor while charging.

Pairing the Extreme headset was pretty straight forward.   This headset has the standard bluetooth range of about 30 feet away from the cell phone.  The Jabra logo on the headset is the Answer/End button, and on each side of that are the volume up and down buttons.  Enlarge the picture (above) and you’ll see 2 noise cancellation microphones hidden beneath the grill.  There’s also a dedicated on/off switch on the bottom side.

Can you charge any device with Mini-B USB receptacle from any charger with Mini-B USB plug?

I've got several devices that have mini-USB receptacles - mobile phone, headsets, media player. Is it safe to charge them from any charger with a Mini-B USB plug (e.g. AC adapter, car charger, computer USB port? Would the voltage, polarity, and amps be right?
USB provides only +5V at about 100 milliAmps max.
i.e. +5V @ 100 mA

The polarity of the USB plug and receptical is standard.

Any USB device that is designed to be charged from the USB port can be charged by any USB charger.

It doesn't matter if it is mini-B or larger USB plug -- it will still provide +5V @ about 100mA max. and the USB device will convert it to the proper voltage to charge its batteries.
