Product broke within 2 days of purchase. Wires came right out of charger base. Would not recommend to anyone

This charger is a little more cheaply made than I thought it would be. I have to continually check the connection to my phone because it seems like it keeps slipping. I use my phone a lot, so I require a car charger to keep it from dying on the way home from work. I may eventually replace this one with a more durable model.

I only used this product two times. Although, it was two times over a period of two months. When I received it, I thought it looked a bit cheap but it worked perfectly fine when I plugged it in my 3G. I had no problems with it while it was working. Then suddenly, when I tried using it a third time, it had stopped working. Probably a connection problem because the red light indicator showing it was receiving power from the cigarette lighter was on.

These veteran travel tips can make traveling with your Apple gear much more fun.

4. Use 3G when Wi-Fi is too slow

Even when hotels provide free Internet access in the room, that access is often horribly slow. If you have an iPhone or iPad with 3G with you, consider using its 3G connection as your access point rather than the hotel’s broadband. You may discover that it’s faster than what the hotel delivers. If you have a Bluetooth tethering plan , all the better. Use it to connect your laptop to the Internet.

Will using a generic aftermarket car charger hurt my iphone 3g?

Hi all,

I just got an Iphone 3g :) and i'm looking into getting a car charger for it.

My question is... should i be worried at all about charging my $200 phone with a $3 generic "Iphone car charger" like the ones sold on ebay and such.

I have heard that the voltage is often too high and there is a risk of over charging which i guess could mess up the phone? anyway... would appreciate your input.

Apple claims the 3G need pinout and other costs need 3volts compared with 10volts.

I do not want to risk it ...

When I first got my iPhone 3G, I too wanted a car charger. So I opted to buy one from this site www.inspiretech.com. The page for the car charger is http://www.inspiretech.com/p-345-iphone- 3g-car-charger.aspx And speaking from my experience, I haven't had any problems with it. With car chargers, you don't want to charge it to full. You use the car charger to give your battery more juice, but you don't want to charge it to capacity. With this car charger I purchased, it has a special chip that prevents it from over charging. So in my opinion, car chargers are great, just don't rely on them to fully charge your phone.

I bought an iPod charger from Tesco. If the connection is the same, it will work. It's made by Technika and costs approximately £15. However, if the iPhone connection is not the same as an iPod's, this thing will still work if you have a USB charger because the gadget as sold is a lighter socket to USB converter, with an iPod lead thrown in.
