AudioControl Adds Lower Cost Processor/EQ
May 06, 2011 | Mountlake Terrace, Wash. - The opening price of AudioControl signal processor/equalizers, designed to improve the sound of factory head units, will drop to a suggested $299 with the June availability of the LCQ-1.
It will join the $599-suggested DQL-8.
The new signal processor connects to the speaker-level outputs of factory radios and amplifiers, acts as a bridge to aftermarket amplifiers and speakers, and incorporates an equalizer to tune response to the car's interior.
The 6-inch by 6-inch device features six speaker-level inputs and six preamp-level outputs, whereas the DQL-8 features eight speaker-level inputs and six preamp outputs.
LCQ-1 features include individual equalization controls for the front, rear and subwoofer channels; internal channel summing to interface with factory amps equipped with built-in crossovers; and input for an optional ACR-2 Remote Level Control to control subwoofer output and switch equalization in and out during customer demos.

how does a car audio equalizer work?
Dec 08, 2007 by iRocJays23
Car audio equalizer hook up the system, whether or not you plug into jacks on the back of your headunit or not.
And it is good to u if u have one place only?
I'm not big fan of EQ's, but if you want to control some ...
EQ work by amplifying sound and you adjust the sound by removing bits and pieces until it sounds good.
- .The jacks go into the input on an equalizer.=If you already have an amp with a built in crossover, and want to save money and make the stereo make sound to your like, use the equalizer on nothing but the speakers and leave the subs hooked up straight to the head unit. This will give you the option to adjust the boom in the back, and then always have room to ballance all the mid-bass and the highs on the eq. Since your cd3100 has 3 sets of jacks, one will be for the subwoofer. Use the other 2 for front and rear then complete the wiring from the equalizer to the wires that go to the appropriate speakers.(left front, left rear..etc.) Jacks and then the sub will "pass low", it will be better in the bass line before the AMP adjustment, if it does not crossover to adapt.
what is the main thing a car audio equalizer will do for your sound system?
Nov 23, 2007 by Aaron W
how do they work do they like just plug into the back of your headunit? and will it make a difference cauz i got a eclipse cd3100 headunit and there is not that much adjustments on it for my subwoofers and i can hear them sound distorted would a equalizer help or do u know what the problem is with my subs?
Help me out man
You might try a supplemental amplifier for the subwoofers if you don't already have one. An equalizer will allow you to customize the in-car sound to your preferences, and, the more bands on the equalizer, the more definitive the sound will be. Subwoofers won't work well without a separate amp.
