Stations Work to Implement AE

IBiquity Digital President/CEO Bob Struble has always been upbeat about the outlook for HD Radio; but these days he’s expressing a refreshed sense of optimism. He believes more stations will convert to digital and that others will upgrade digital power to allow the transmission of more data services.

“The industry hasn’t spent money for a few years. There’s basic maintenance, upgrades, etc. [that need to be done], and I think we’ll benefit from that.”

He senses that many broadcasters who are planning to upgrade plants, even in small markets, will convert to digital at the same time.

Vendors at the recent NAB Show seem to share his optimism. They told Radio World that stations plan to spend more on upgrades this year and some are expressing interest in converting to digital or upgrading HD Radio power.

As if hearing a choir's long notes of "Amen," the radio industry is now seeing a growing number of people who click their way to music and talk programming. If you need an example of online's growing importance, consider network TV car commercials. How many speak about internet connectivity as a selling point? How many mention HD Radio?

By installing new programming techniques and coupling on-air with online, Dan Mason is beaking the mold (or washing the mold off CBS radio). But name another radio group that shows progress on either of these issues - and don't bring up social network programming without quantifying its success - you'll find that's tough to do.


Let's discuss one navigation point - the "listen" button. It's still something I need to search for on most radio sites - pureplay or broadcast. And let's not just talk about the "listen" button in general, but where that listen button is on a radio industry web site when a person uses their mobile device.

Instructions on how to install HD Car Connect radio?

Hello. I was wondering if anyone had any installation instructions for a HD Car connect HD Car radio with illustrations. A friend installed the radio and when the power is turned on nothing comes out of the speakers but the regular car radio works. Does the regular car radio have to be set to a certain station in order for the HD to work? Maybe he hooked it up wrong. Any illustrations or instructions will be greatly appreciated.
If you have the model number of the HD receiver go on the Internet and type it into your search engine. You will find a website for the manufacture. Under that model number most manufactures have available in a pdf file format instructions for there equipment.
Give it a try, if have no luck post the info and I will look it up for you. Good luck!

Is there a range extender or power booster available for my new and disappointing in-car HD radio?

I had a JVC KTHDPK1 installed by the vendor. Now I'm plagued by signal interruptions
They just popped in the tuner. I'm using the existing whip antenna that's on the rear 1/4 panel.
take it back and tell them to extend the antenna cable

it they coil up all the extra wire it causes the problems you have
