Too many years in south Florida has thinned my blood and it wasn’t until last week when the temperature stayed in the 60s that the winter parka was put away. The snow shovel found its place in the corner of the cellar along with the bucket of rock salt, only to be replaced with a weed whacker and a bucket of hand trimmers on the front porch.

The recent rains must have contained steroids since every blade of grass here in Lehman is growing faster than the price of gasoline. With the current price of gas comes a dilemma. Do you run the riding mower at full throttle as usual, consume three tanks (3 gallons) of fuel and get all the grass cut in about four hours or do you run half throttle, use two tanks of fuel and take six hours?

We’re talking almost $16 in fuel per week if you only cut once. Guess the days of the neighbor kid coming by with an old non-motorized push mower to cut your grass for $5 are gone.

I can just envision an entrepreneurial youngster with a mower today. Earrings glistening, talking with a lisp due to the stud in his tongue, hat on backwards, tattoos and looking at his feet while talking instead of making eye contact, after having pulled up in his father’s Avalanche with a custom trailer towing a riding mower that has more gadgets than a James Bond car.

In California, are gas powered remote control cars legal on the streets?

I heard gas powered remote control cars cannot be played on the streets? Is that true? I have a neighbor who lets his son play his remote control car on the street of our house. It is soooo loud! It sounds louder than a lawn mower. Someone has told me that it is illegal to play on the street. I can't find that on the web. Can anyone help?
in the UK motorized RC vehicles [battery] are allowed
to be used with caution and not on the road

but nitro fueled RC vehicles can be used without a permit
but only on private grounds/property and with owner of the land permission ,which is fair enough because some nitro fuelled RC vehicles go extremely fast,and would cause a nasty injury if it hit somebodys foot/leg on the main street,if that helps at all?

ps:and of course there is the high level of
noise pollution to be taken into
consideration too,so all in all !

I want to get a $180 fuel powered remote control car. It is a buggie that goes over 55 mph. I want to know what kind of fuel to put in it, the cost of this fuel, and how far away I can be away from it while still controlling it.
you use rc fuel.. its sold at any hobby store. its about $15-20 a gallon, but the car uses so little that they only sell it by ounces.
the distance it can be controlled from has to do with the power of the transmitter and receiver in the car and controller. You can buy controllers that will work well over 1/2 mile. being $180, its on the lower end, so i would say about 1/8th of a mile.
i dont have one, but my neighbor has one that will hit 75mph, but you need a license for it... thats all i know.. i dont know who authorizes the license, but i know its by how fast it goes.
