Ford's “Talking Cars” Could Reduce Crashes, Fuel Use

Ford is working on a technology that will enable cars to talk to each other, helping to reduce crashes as well as potentially fuel consumption. The technology, which Ford’s Director of Electrical and Electronics Systems, Jim Buczkowski, told us won’t be available for at least another 5 years or so, is based on a souped up form of Wi-Fi and GPS.

I participated in a demo of the talking car tech at an event organized by Ford at AT&T Park in San Francisco on Wednesday. Using three Ford cars that have the WiFi/GPS system installed, the Ford drivers showed different scenarios where drivers can be alerted to potential safety hazards using loud noises and red flashing lights. For example, a car driving in a driver’s blindspot when the driver wants to turn into the impacted lane set off the alert system, as did a car suddenly pulling out in front of a driver at an intersection. (Note: It was a pretty fun demo as the three cars had to drive at fast enough speeds to simulate near accidents.)

What speaker brand would you suggest for 4" car speakers?

Im trying to decide which shoes are 4 "round or Infinitys for Boston soon I added.

Any suggestions? Or better, but other brands you recommend 4 speakers "Im like clarity and loudness!
Generally speaking boston speakers can play very loud and very clear.

Generally speaking I like the sound of infinitys better. They typically have more ambiance. They sound more natural.

But it depends on the models so try to audition both before buying, preferably with the same CD and running off the same headunit or amp.

Polk are also a favorite of mine.

BUT... dash speakers tend to draw the sound to the left side because it's so much closer to your ears than the right. I HATE that sound. Is it possible to get larger door speakers instead?

If you do get 4s, you need to run them off of a high-pass amp or buy capacitors called "bass blockers" or similar to prevent bass frequencies from blowing them. Trust me, it's $12 worth spending. Walmart and all the electronics stores will have them. I would suggest 120hz high-pass, but 80hz will do if that's all you can find.

Can I wire 4 car speakers to Mono amp?

I have a Pioneer amp that I want to run 4 speakers to. It s also bridgeable Mono amp. Its a 2 channel amp but the right channel is blown so I can only use it in MONO bridge mode..

But my is can I run 4 car speakers. my rear and fronts to the mono output??
it'll be fine as long as you dont drop too low in ohms
  • it will sound like garbage... see before suround sound there was stereo and before stereo there was mono.... so you would be going back to a technology that was made obsolete in the 60's... you would have zero imagining. want a test run? listen to am for awhile...

    technically you could (if wired correctly), but i highly recomend you do not.
