What brand sells the best coaxial car speakers (6 1/2" and 5 1/4")?
Apr 21, 2006 by vector4tfc
I'm looking for high end car audio speakers. But they have 5 1 / 4 "and 6 1 / 2" part is not () speaker.
I will stealth and sound. High energy is required, both good and high performance.
The Focal Utopia line of speakers OR Boston Acoustics are awesome for sound quality and will run you around $1000 for a pair. Step up from those you could go with Rainbow Audio from Canada, those will run you anywhere from $1000-2500 for a pair. step down I would have to say JL Audio XR line or better are awesome and will only run you $325-900 a pair.
Keep in mind that you are going to spend at least $600 on an amp to push any of these speakers well. I recommend JL Audio or McCintosh Amps. The JL will run you about $600 and the Mc around $1000.You will need the highest level RCA signal cable and speaker cable you can find. RCA cable, you may spend about $ 100 for line quality. Speakers will only sound as good as the use and location they are installed.
Hope this helps!

Are my stock car speakers 6 1/2''? I measured the diameter and its almost exactly 6''?
Jun 24, 2007 by Nicholas T
6 1/2'' seems to be a standard size, but i just wanted to make sure that any new ones i buy will fit. i dont want to pay for installation im smart enough to figure that part out.
<duh>If you're smart enough to figure the installation part out, then you ought to be smart enough to figure out that if you measure your speakers and they're almost exactly 6" in diameter, then they're not 6-1/2".</duh>
EDIT: You sent me a private message (copied below), yet you refuse to be contacted via email yourself. Big surprise.

obvious that a speaker that measures 6''
shouldn't be called a 6 1/2'', but, tell me, do you
know what the real dimensions of a 2 x 4 are?
look it up sometime. If you're right about the
speakers, which im not saying you're not, then
thanks but don't be a dick about it. If you just
made that answer up because it seems
obvious, you should probably take a look at
some of the other answers i got - not everyone
agrees with you. Either way you should
probably get a life and work on losing your
virginity or something. Have a wonderful day
You don't need to be crude, but then perhaps your language skills are such that that's all you know. I guess we can blame your parents for that. Anyway, I did review the other two answers: one disagrees (sort of), but then I don't get worked up when someone disagrees with me.
That said, it doesn't take an idiot to figure out that you need to get the same size replacement speakers, no matter the size. So, to restate my thoroughly thought out and correct answer, yours are 6" speakers, not 6-1/2" speakers. It seems to me you asked the wrong question.
