Audiovox Expanding OE-Look Head Unit Selection
May 11, 2011 | The company also reaffirmed
previously announced plans to offer eight to 10 more OE-replacement models this
year, all designed to exploit opportunities left on the table by automakers,
said
Audiovox Electronics president Tom Malone.
The company's factory-fit head units
are Advent-branded products targeted to the expediter market. All are
touchscreen-equipped double-DIN A/V-navigation units designed to match OEM
cosmetics and plug into the factory wiring harness of particular car models.
When necessary, the head units plug into the vehicle's digital databus and
steering-wheel controls.
Audiovox's OE-look heads are usually
priced by car dealers at about $2,000 installed.
The OE-look head units fill a niche
left by automakers that offer sophisticated A/V-navigation systems in high-end
vehicles but limit the systems' availability in low- to mid-end vehicles, said
Malone. Automakers either do not offer A/V-nav systems in those vehicles or
offer the systems

How many watts is the eclipse 80101 10 inch car subwoofer?
Oct 30, 2009 by j-dope
I cannot find this complexity Woods Ferry software on the Internet unless the price of $ 180 i need to know too .... thanks for Ohm replyies.
OK, so this is what I uncovered;
It's a DVC 4 ohm subwoofer. It fall in the class of subs like the JL Audio 10w3v2 10", also a DVC 4 ohm. This subwoofer hendles 300W (max) power.
What you can take away from this:
This search took me several minutes just to get an accurate hit on this subwoofer. It is obviously not very well known, and not very powerfull. For $180, you could do much better.
- Did you mean ?.... eclipse SW8010
How much would it cost to have best buy or somebody install a 10' subwoofer and an amp in my car?
Dec 30, 2007 by Cameron
Also would you think it would be possible to cut a hole big enough in the flat surface at the bottom of the rear windshield behind the head rests in my car for the subwoofer? My car is a 2005 sxt neon and would that cost more if that is possible.
You would be better off installing the sub in the trunk. If you are mechanically inclined you could save a lot of money by doing the install yourself. An amp and sub installation is quite easy even if it's your first install. If you are going to use a high output amp make sure to use a capacitor and the recommended gauge wire or you will have severe dimming issues. There are only 3 wires for the amp and 2 for the speaker. Power, ground and remote (turns amp on) and the speaker wires from amp to the sub. Oh and the RCA cable to the headunit. If it's a stock unit you can use a converter to convert highlevel (speaker wires coming off headunit) outputs to RCA. It's simple with splice connectors, you won't have to cut any wires. Hope this helps.

Also, there is going to be some kind of premium charged if they are going to cut a hole for the sub in the rear deck. (If they will at all) I doubt they would do that, and even if they would, for the sound quality, it would be beneficial to keep the sub in the trunk. Facing the rear of the car, the sub in the trunk allows bass waves to travel to the rear of the trunk of the car, and rebound (growing this whole time) and reach the inside of the car with a better effect. A 10" sub can also be very discreet in the trunk of a car. You do not need a very large enclosure, especially if you stay sealed, ported would be a little larger. Hope this helps.
