AVX Develops High Q, Low ESR Multilayer Organic RF Capacitor
Feb 08, 4040 | GREENVILLE, S.C., Jul 12, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components
and interconnect solutions, has developed an 0603 case size surface
mount capacitor capable of supporting frequencies from 700 MHz to well
above 5 GHz. Designated the MLOC Series, the advanced organic RF
capacitors maintain high Q and high self resonance while providing low
ESR values at high frequencies. The capacitors, based on AVX's patented
multilayer low loss organic (MLO) technology, are polymer-based organic
capacitors that use high-conductivity copper interconnects in a
multilayer fashion.
The ability to fabricate these components on large area substrates with
sophisticated laser direct imaging allows for improved cost benefits and
tolerance control. The end result is a low profile, low ESR and
high-performance RF capacitor. In addition, the MLOC Series is expansion
matched to printed circuit boards to allow for improved reliability.

AVX High Power Surface Mount Capacitors Available with P90 Dielectric to ...
Jun 23, 2011 | GREENVILLE, S.C., Jun 23, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and
interconnect solutions, has expanded its HQ Series MLC surface mount RF
power capacitors to include P90 dielectric versions for high power high
frequency applications, such as medical and industrial electronics. The
HQ Series MLC with the P90 dielectric material features an ultra-low
equivalent series resistance (ESR) and dissipation factor at high
frequencies. The HQ Series capacitor with P90 dielectric is currently
available in C case sizes, with E case sizes available in the third
quarter.
The HQ Series power capacitors are designed for 300V to 7,200V
applications and feature a dielectric strength of 120% of rated WVDC.
The devices can handle the high power and high voltage levels of RF
power amplifiers, inductive heating, high magnetic field environments
(MRI coils), and medical & industrial electronics.

I have AMP HIfonics Brutus BXI1206D thats 1,200 watts rms 1ohm stable. I know the general rule of thumb is 1 Farad per 1000 watts peak. I found I wish capacitor 3 Farad and my question is too large capacitor will harm the system or not.
Nope, not at all.
A cap is only good so far as the audio system isn't trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cap doesn't provide more power, it's designed to 'stiffen' the voltage to the amp, nothing esle. If the current isn't there, a cap won't help.
If your total system power is 1000 watts RMS or more, you will need to:
1. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator
2. Upgrade to a heavy duty deep cycle battery
3. Upgrade the "Big 3" - that is to replace the power wire between the battery and alternator, the ground from the battery to the chassis and the ground strap from the engine/tranny to the chassis with at least 1/0 AWG wire.
Failure to do this will result in you replacing them anyway as the alternator will eventually fail.
Here is a guide that will calculate what size alternator and power wires you need http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php ?file=6d26c621
You'll need Microsft Excel to use it.

- i dont believe it will they are just kind of like a buffer between ur sjound system and your charging system its just the more farads you have the more your charging system can take with out dimming the lights ect. because a capacitor is kind of like a battery that can discharge very fast and charge very fast.
What capacitor should I use to smooth 2 to 5 volts oscillating dc power?
Jul 15, 2008 by Oz1981
A homemade generator is producing 2 to 5 volts AC which have been converted to DC with a bridge rectifier, still the leds I want to use flash. What capacitor should I use? And can the capacitor regulate the output voltage to 3 volts? Thank you.
The capacitor will reduce the variation in the output, but will not regulate it. You can get a 3-volt series regulator, but it won't work with an input under about 5 volts. The capacitor by itself may be enough for your application, depending on how much the input varies. The value of the capacitor depends mainly on how much current you need for the LED's, and the frequency of the AC. Probably about 1000 uf would work. If you use too much capacitance, the LED's will stay on a while after the generator stops.
