WARNINGThis product works well in the nicer months when it is warm outside (why use the product then anyway?), but the Tac option (where it turns the starter longer during cold months) does NOT work. The whole purpose my wife and I purchased this is to allow the car to warm up in the winter time.I have contacted the company about this product on five documented occasions before I had to threaten to file a complaint with my state attorney general's office about the company for not getting back to me. The seller finally got back to me and his answer was "unplug the device from the battery and plug it back in" but that certainly didn't work.We have spent hundreds of dollars on both the product and the PROFESSIONAL mechanic's labor fees and the product still doesn't work as advertised. Bought for my wife's car and installed myself. This is not my first install. There were a few items that were left unclear in the manual and video, although with some digging around online I found what I was looking for, it just took more time. The biggest problem was getting the unit to communicate with the remote(s) out of the box. After installation, there were instructions to clear the unit's memory and set it to a new remote, but it took a call to tech support to learn that I'd have to cycle the key 10-15 times and not 5 like it said in the manual. It also took that tech to tell me that the unit should click continuously until I press a remote button after cycling the key, pulling the power leads, waiting, and repowering,at which time, the remote should (and did) work. Even with the tech on the phone, and following his instructions, it took several attempts and probably 20 minutes to get the job done. Product works as advertised but you have to do your homework at there website and the web to get the proper wires i.d. Matching your wires with the module is a task as well for some wires.........case & point I i.d. my horn wire but could'nt figure out were to ty it into the module so I just went without. This is my second unit I've installed (previous vehicle and different model)........hopefully this one lasts as long as the previous one did.

Jun 23, 2011 | Is a highly technical magazine, my evaluation would require that I take the starter apart. The company was OK with that. I was able to pry into the guts of the microprocessor-controlled unit as well as the RF key fob you use to operate it. I was astonished to see that the remote operated from 12V. The main unit provides an excitation coil for your car’s spare smart key so that the unit can disable the car’s security system when you start it remotely. The 400-foot range sounds nice, but this unit works only on automatic-transmission cars built after 1996, so my ’92 Honda can’t use it.

How to hook up bulldog remote starter with power door locks?

There is no anti-theft system. I wanted to hook up keyless entry to the remote because it wasnt done when the remote starter was installed. How do I do it?

Apr 25, 2008 by mike vi am thinking about getting the bulldog remote starter but the package says 791 bypass may be required for cars made after 1996. I drive a 1998 corolla. Do i need the 791 bypass? i dont want to spend anything xtra.

They are crap , I installed a couple of them and all of them burned up.
I worked for over 3 years installing alarms and remote starts professionally so I do know what I am doing and all the Bulldogs were crap.
Go with a little more money and a product that will last you.
